Amble Update

Here is a brief update on Dovertime and the adventures of Amble Crocklepot.

Amble comes from a place far far away called Shonite…. where for a long time because of the tides, things (objects clothing etc…) from Dover have been washing up on the shore. He is dressed head to toes in things salvaged from the sea. Over time he began to collect a series of small metal boxes with lens in the front. After some time he realised that these boxes could take images. So curious was he upon discovering the images he found already in these boxes (cameras) that he decided to visit Dover.

Our film follows Amble as he spends a day in Dover discovering all sorts of unusual things – and trying to learn from them. How to brush his teeth, how to drink tea, sail a boat, learn to knit, dance, etc… unfortunately he does not always get it right, tangling himself in balls of wool, brushing his cheeks etc…

We very much need your help to realise this film, which is a celebration of all that goes on in Dover and a way to learn some basic filming techniques so you to can make films about all the wonderful projects going on in the area, for the Live Site Big Screen.

Our core group is brilliant and dedicated but small (if you would like to join it we would love your help)… we would really appreciate your support in any or all of the following ways.

  1. Pop along to one of our regular sessions on one (or all) of the following days to get stuck in, or just to see what’s going on and share your opinion. All welcome. Thursdays 4-6 at the Old Sorting office Nr Morrissons 30th June, 14th July, 28th July, 11th August, 25th August, 8th September.
  2. Invite Amble to visit a spot you love in Dover, get him round for tea, or to learn to knit, tea dance, play a sport, come to your shop, sail a boat. If you, or a group you belong to, would be up for a visit from Amble, we can come down with our small crew and film him in your location. Please get in touch if this interests you.
  3. Please remember to keep submitting photographs of what you do in Dover at any time of day.

I very much look forward to hearing from you and hope you can help. Do not hesitate to call or email with any queries. All the people involved in the making of this film will be credited on the film and receive a limited edition copy of the film in September. They will also be invited to a special breakfast event/ screening at the Live Site Big Screen on the 17th of September.
