Dear all
It was a real pleasure to work with you all on the project, I still cannot believe Dovertime the film exists. Without all your commitment and enthusiasm Amble’s adventures would never have been realised. Please find some of the comments people left in the caravan on the preview day here – despite the rain the response was brilliantly positive! As for Amble, he is definitely not resting… Anton has written a wonderful story about Amble’s adventures. In collaboration with Barry from DCR, he is also planning to get Amble out and about talking to people on the radio… watch this space. You will be able to see episodes from the film on the BBC Live Screen in the Market Square until spring next year, so keep your eyes peeled if you are in town. Also, the library and the museum have copies of the film for their permanent collections.

Once again, I cannot thank you all enough for your help and support. Good luck with all your future projects and stay in touch!

Many thanks to all of you who braved extreme weather to come and join us for the screening of Dovertime on Saturday. Despite a few technical hitches it was a great event and your support was much appreciated. The event was covered by both local papers and DCR radio so look out for those articles next week. I do hope you all got a copy of the film, and for those of you that could not be there I will be sending out copies next week. If you have any comments or feedback relating to the film please drop me an email as we would love to know what you think.

Zen Bicycle Band

Last week we had a sneaky peak at the first 6 edited episodes of Amble’s adventures… which are really brilliant. We also had the Zen Bicycle Band down to teach Amble (Sheila) how to play the flute and a xylophone type instrument. Amble (Chris) visited the local gym where local actor Tom was working out. He was very enthusiastic and kindly offered to help us out and star in the Amble film. So we are entering the final stretch – it’s the last few weeks and there is still a fair bit to do. Here is the latest plan and update… hope to see as many of you as possible at the last few sessions. Please give me a heads-up as to when you think you might be able to pop along (by e-mail or text 07990 515 381).

Thursday 18th August
12–2pm: Filming – re-shooting bits for episode one Amble (Anton) on the Seafront. Meet at 12pm at the Water Sports Centre.
2–4pm: Filming – dance episode in the Youth Centre near the big screen Amble (Emma).
4–5pm: Filming – balloon episode and doing title sequences at DAD the Old Sorting Office (Amble?).

Thursday 25th August
12–3pm: Filming at the Castle (TBC) – fingers crossed! Lunch on this day will be provided by Dovertime.
4–6pm: Filming final episode in the Pod at DAD – I am hoping some of the people Amble has met along the way will pop by to his house between 5–6pm to say farewell.
6pm: Drink at the pub – 1st round on me!

Thursday 8th September
4–6pm: Pre-preview of the film at DAD.

Saturday 17th September
10am–12pm: Breakfast event preview celebration at the big screen!

Things to think about in the meantime are a title for the film and how we bring it to a conclusion, and I look forward to seeing you all soon!

Meeting dates for August

Quick update for Dovertime and some new dates for your diary…

We had a brilliant session on the 20th July at the Transport Museum! Amble was on top form crashing bicycles and smashing giant teacups. The volunteers there were very helpful and got really stuck in. We had filmmaker and cameraman Rick Robbins down to give us some top tips, and things are starting to take shape.

So, here are some important dates for your diary. As always, if you could let me know you can make it, that would be great. If anyone has preferences for the extra date, please let me know.

Thursday 4th August
4–6pm: Catch-up/ filming session at the old sorting office

Thursday 11th August
12–4pm: Filming session (location TBC)

Amble has arrived!

The ball has really started rolling on the Dovertime front. Amble has arrived! He sports over-size wellies, strange specs, a top hat and a rope necklace, amongst other things. At last week’s filming session there was a great turnout, so thanks to everyone who came along. Especially to the girls from Dover Grammar who helped us start filming our first two episodes – Amble learning to brush his teeth and Amble discovering the Umbrella. Steve kindly offered to play Amble this week… he got wet and ended up head-to-toe in toothpaste for which we are eternally grateful. The schedule for July is as follows, please let me know which sessions you are panning to pop along to. I look forward to seeing you all then.

Monday July 11th
12-2pm: Meeting up at DAD – looking at raw footage and filming some extra bit and bobs
2-4pm: Going to Amina’s cafe on the High Street (next to Costa Coffee) – we will be partnering with the knitting group to film Amble learning to knit.

Thursday 14th July
2-4pm: Filming at the Beach and around the Watersports Centre (meet at the front of the Watersports centre)
4-6pm: Extra filming (balloon episode) and regular catch up meeting at DAD – please pop in to have a look at the work so far.

Wednesday 20th July
12-4pm: Filming at Dover Transport Museum (please let me know if you have any transport issues getting to this venue)

Extra August dates (to be confirmed)
Thursday’s the 4th, 11th and 25th fixed
